Mock Council of EuropeOctober 2008 |
In October, Carrickfergus College pupils Claire O’Neill, Ashley Parker and Hannah Hamilton (Year 14) represented the school at the Mock Council of the European Union held in the Long Gallery, Parliament Buildings, Stormont.
The event was attended by twenty eight schools from across Northern Ireland, representing the 27 member states, the European Commission and the Secretariat General. Our team represented Belgium during the debates on the EU’s approach to immigration, global warming and GM foods.
The students really enjoyed participating and learnt much about the importance of intercultural dialogue as each school took on the role of representing one of the twenty seven member states and had to think and present from the perspective of other European countries.
