Outstanding Exam Results
October 2009
Carrickfergus College’s History department makes its own bit of history in this historic year for the school. Out of the 12 pupils in the lower sixth History class 9 gained As and 3 gained Bs in AS Level History. This success level would rival any lower sixth group in any school in Northern Ireland.
This is a very important year in the history of Carrickfergus College. The school opened in September 1959 and has just passed its 50th birthday. Our pupils celebrated this notable landmark by achieving the best results in the history of the school. In August 2009 pupils opened their results envelopes to reveal an extremely good set of GCSE, AS and A2 results as shown below.
GCSE Grades 2008/2009
- 52% of all GCSEs achieved A* to C Grades
- 45% of pupils achieved 5 or more A* to C Grades
- 97% of pupils achieved 5 or more A* to E Grades
50 pupils returned back into Lower 6th to start AS level studies which will hopefully result in good success in A’ level exams in 2011. The combined sixth form numbers over 90 pupils in total.
AS Level 2008/2009
100% success at A to E Grades
76% success at A to C Grades
A2 Level 2008/2009
