Carrick College begin their Northern Ireland Schools Cup campaigns this week with three teams in action. In the Under 12 championship Mr Sloans Year 8 team welcome Belfast side Newtownbreda High School on Friday 16th October (Kick Off 1pm). Promising players Ryan Nimick and Jody Gaw will return the side which defeated Carrick Grammar 4-2 in their previous match.

On Thursday 15th October (2pm) Mr Scullion’s Year 10 side welcome St Marys Christian Brothers Grammar School in what will be a fiercely competitive game with a home draw in the second round the reward for the winners. Curtis Bell and goalkeeper Joshua Stewart will be key to the team, both having experience at playing at a higher level with the Year 11 team.

The Year 12 side have the seemingly most difficult daw, an away tie in the U-16 championship against St Louis from Ballymena. Mr Bennett will be hoping captain Andy Armstrong will be at his best to lift his players for this tie. This game will take place on Tuesday 20th October at Ballymena Showgrounds (2pm).

This season has seen mixed results for all football teams in the East Antrim league. With the added spice of cup action this week it promises to be an exciting week for the boys. All staff and pupils at Carrick College wish the team the best of luck!
