November Football Report
November 2009
With the recent poor weather conditions our Year 11 footballers (pictured) had the luxury of playing at Crusaders Football Club's brand new state of the art '4G' pitch this week. The opposition was a strong Newtownabbey side. Despite a bright start to the game our Year 11 team lost out, despite strong performances most notably from captain Daniel Crawford and goalkeeper Josh Stewart.
Meanwhile the Year 8's have two remaining East Antrim league fixtures this season, and with two wins from three they still remain in the hunt for the league title. Final fixtures against Monkstown and Downshire will determine their final league standing.
The Year 9's face Ballyclare Secondary next week in their bid for a mid table finish, followed by an away clash at Monkstown. Newly found striker Kris Dines will add much needed bite in attack in these two games, with Jamie Todd and Taylor Thomson the engines in midfield.
St Marys CBS were the victors in the Northern Ireland Cup first round replay, defeating our Year 10's by three goals to nil. With such a committed group of players in this year group, they hope to finish their season on a high in their final fixture away to Monkstown.
The Year 12 squad made their long two hour journey north into Derry last week. Despite an outstanding performance from everybody involved, their Northern Ireland Cup dream ended after being defeating by three goals to one. All is not lost though, two wins from two in their final league games could push the boys into top spot in the East Antrim league.
With the completion of the East Antrim league competition, attention switches to the East Antrim Cup competitions. For more information click here
