Minds at Work
December 2009
Carrickfergus College have begun a new Comenius Project this term linking up with three other schools from across Europe. We will be working with I.E.S. Ben Gabirol School from Malaga in Spain, Graf Von Arco College from Nauen in Germany and ISTITUTO SUPERIORE CARLO DELL' ACQUA from Milan in Italy. We will be working together on a project entitled 'Minds at work' which will have a central focus on enterprise education, sport and the promotion of healthy lifestyles. The first project meeting took place recently in Germany attended by David Kane and Connor Houston (Year 14), Mr McCready and Mr Scullion. Our students had the chance to attend lessons with the German pupils and meet students from our partner schools in Milan and Malaga. A number of group activities were planned, with visits to Berlin and Potsdam.
The Comenius Project aims to develop knowledge and understanding of different European cultures and languages, and help young people gain skills for their future lives and careers. As well as learning about their partners' society, the programme also helps young people learn more about their own culture and build links within their local community.
