Ulster Schools Cross Country 2010
March 2010
Emma Sugden and Jemma Hartley were the only representatives from Carrickfergus College at this year's Ulster Schools XC. With the competition having been postponed from the previous week, both girls were more than ready to race.
This is Emma's first time at the Ulster's, and she didn't disappoint. In a field of approx 119 minor girls, Emma finished an impressive 18th. Which when put into perspective is a super achievement against some of the biggest Secondary and Grammar schools in Ulster.
Jemma, in her 3rd year at the Ulster's, knew what expect from the gun and fought well throughout the race to finish a commendable 42nd out of approx. 105 starters in the Inter girls. Again Jemma is a year down in this category racing girls not only of the same age but also those in 5th form. She now has another year to prepare, with the hope that she can improve on this position.
