A Level Religious Education

What will I study?

AS2 – An Introduction to the Acts of the Apostles. This includes a study of the origins of the book, the origin and expansion of Christianity as recorded in Acts and the faith , worship and witness found in the book.

AS4 – The Early Church: This overlaps with the church of the New Testament and includes a study of the life and worship of the church, the expansion of Christianity and Early Christianity non-canonical literature.

A2 – New Testament Writings: a study of Acts, Galatians and 1 Corinthians. A2 ideas are explored in greater depth including Paul’s preaching, writing and missionary activity..

A24 – The Christian Church in the Roman Empire to 325AD: Issues of worship, government, heresy and controversy are examined. Christian literature is further studied as is the relkationship between church and state.

    • Piece of coursework, 1500-1750 words.

  • A2 – A study of Acts, Galations and 1 Corinthians.

  • A2 4 – The Christian Church in the Roman Empire to 325AD.
    • 1 hour 20 mins external exam

  • A2 9 – Synoptic Assessment
    • unit 1 hour exam
    • 40% of AS (20% of overall A Level)
