What are Key Skills?
- General
skills used to improve your learning and performance. They are needed in education,
work and everyday life.
- Essential
in everyday life - because they are the skills you need repeatedly.
- Essential
in employment as if you have key skills your employer will feel quite confident
that you have the ability to work in specific areas, e.g. literacy.
- Essential
in education as they help you to demonstrate and communicate your ideas and
knowledge.
What are the Benefits of Key Skills?
The benefits
for pupils that complete key skills are:
- Level
2 key skills enables you to gain an extra ten UCAS points and a level 3 key
skills enables you to gain an extra twenty UCAS points.
- You gain
extra knowledge and skills which can be used when you are employed.
- They
enable an employer to be confident about your ability in a specific area.
